Online Summer Book Study
led by Rev. Suzanna Bates
Responding to the call to listen and learn about the lives and stories of Indigenous people, let's learn together.
Friday mornings on Zoom - 10.00am
starting on Friday 23 July (for 6 weeks)
You are invited to share in an online Book Study of this beautiful book, "Braiding Sweetgrass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Robin is a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation who holds a PHD degree in Botany. She weaves her scientific and Native American knowledge and wisdom with her observations and intuitions into a beautiful poetic story of hope and sustainability.
Our study will give insight into the ways of Indigenous peoples and will offer an alternative way of thought and living that embraces the interconnection of all life on Planet Earth. It will show that the Indigenous people have survived and that much of their culture continues to serve them. It offers us an opportunity to view our relationship to all of Earth’s inhabitants in a more respectful and sustainable way.
The book is now in our church library. You can also purchase it for Kindle or other
e-reader, as a book on Amazon or from another place.
The book is also available as an AUDIO BOOK from Sidney Library! If you are a member, just click HERE to download it, or, join the library to do so.
